Meet Meher Jhurani, founder of The Grove Bookworms club for young readers
You’ll be hearing about many new resident clubs and groups at The Grove Frisco soon, as Courtney Craven, our Community Engagement Manager, works to nurture a wide variety of clubs that serve our residents’ diverse interests and passions.
One of the first new clubs is The Grove Bookworms, founded by 11-year-old resident Meher Jhurani for young readers from ages 9 to 12.
Originally, from India, Meher is a sixth-grade student at Vandeventer Middle School, one of the highly regarded Frisco ISD schools serving our community.
In this interview, Meher shares her passion for reading and her inspiration for starting The Grove Bookworms.
Can you tell us a bit about your personal journey and the experiences that have shaped you into the remarkable individual you are today?
I used to live in Plano, and our family moved to The Grove Frisco in 2022. I used to participate in school events such as Destination Imagination. This is where my creativity came to show.
My personal journey to get into reading started when my second-grade teacher handed me a book from the “I Survived” series. I was very engaged and interested in the book. I then continued to read the series and soon completed it, which led me to explore more books.
My favorite genres are Fantasy, Mystery, and Historical Fiction.
What inspired you to establish the Bookworms here at The Grove Frisco?
I have a passion for reading, and I love to discuss with others about books I have read. I love to dive into a book and see the different stories and endless possibilities there are in a book's story line. I wanted to create a space where other readers who are like-minded can meet and discuss books.
When and where does the club typically meet, and what is its primary purpose?
The club usually meets in the Orchard House meeting room once a month. The goal is for residents from ages 9 to 12 to be able to talk and exchange books with others and share opinions and recommendations.
What career or profession are you aspiring to pursue in the future?
When I grow up, I want to be an architect or a lawyer.
What aspects of living in The Grove Frisco do you particularly enjoy?
I love The Grove Frisco particularly because of the amenities such as the infinity pool, parks, lakes, and trails. I also love the kind and wonderful neighbors we have in the community. But above all, I love it because of the various events and clubs that they organize to bring the community together.
